Walking through the abandoned subway is an immersion into urban exploration. There was so much chatter about development and construction closing off areas, with no recent references to entry points, I had no idea if I'd be able to even see anything. I took a chance at someone's post here that dropped coordinates and it was a solid lead. *43Β°09'18"N 77Β°37'19"W *Park behind Nick Tahou Hots and walk the sidewalk to the coordinates. This is the entrance that is underground is throws you into pitch black darkness. I'm going to reiterate what others have suggested. *Bring a strong flashlight per person. Phone cameras WILL NOT cut it *Wear boots - it's wet, muddy and rocky *Don't go alone. While we didn't encounter any hostile people, it's good to be safe. Especially when you could fall and injure yourself and no one would know or even see you. We only encountered 1 other person who happened to be working on the building at the end of the trail. No homeless people but you could see where they were camping out. One small area did reek of urine.

Interesting to see the wall art. Can't access very much unless you climb the fencing. Strong smell of fresh urine.

The Rochester Abandoned Subway is a fascinating piece of local history and a unique spot to explore. Walking through the remnants of the old subway tunnels feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by urban decay and incredible street art that gives the space an eerie yet artistic vibe. The graffiti and murals add a lot of character, making it a popular spot for photographers and adventure seekers. It's important to be careful and go with a group, as some areas can be unsafe. Overall, it's a must-see for anyone interested in urban exploration and Rochesterβs hidden history!

Not for the feint hearted or easily scared (lile.me), that's for sure. I didn't get very far down the tunnel because my bike light wasn't powerful enough and the flash on in my camera failed anyway. But this is an awesome piece of history that looks like something out of the movie '28 Days Later' Next time I'll bring a flashlight and a willing human being to hold my hand.
